Corporate Excellence Honored in India

The time to recognize the scriptwriters of the India story was perfect. On a day the Sensex rallied past the 18,000 mark, a power-packed jury comprising six of India Inc’s leading decision-makers selected the winners of Business Standard’s annual corporate awards for excellence.

The jury made the selection process look easy and took just over an hour to arrive at decisions based on a shortlist prepared by the Business Standard Research Bureau. That was remarkable, considering they had to pore over reams of data and select not only the CEO of the Year, but also achievers in other categories: public sector undertakings, multinational companies and small and medium enterprises. The pleasant surprises thrown up by the data and their discussions prompted the jury to opt for a Company of the Year category for the third year in a row.

The consensus was it was a consumer story all the way — over 90 per cent of companies that made it to the initial shortlist were in consumer-facing businesses. “The data proved once again that India’s consumer story is intact,” said ICICI Bank and Infosys Chairman K V Kamath, head of the jury.

The corporate awards will be given away in Mumbai next month.

QUMAS Receives GRC Technology Innovation Award

Today QUMAS announced that its ComplianceSP platform, which leverages Microsoft SharePoint 2010, received one of the GRC Technology Innovation Corporate Awards from Corporate Integrity, a leading GRC strategy advisory firm.

The GRC Technology Innovation Award recognizes new and innovative technologies that transform the way that companies manage governance, risk, and compliance. Corporate Integrity received dozens of nominations for the corporate awards, but only selected ten recipients.

QUMAS ComplianceSP on SharePoint 2010 combines the power of Microsoft SharePoint 2010 with the proven regulatory domain expertise of QUMAS. It integrates seamlessly with the wider Microsoft environment, including Office, Outlook, Silverlight, and other elements of the Microsoft technology stack. Coupled with preconfigured solutions for managing documents, processes, people and tasks, ComplianceSP on SharePoint 2010 delivers an innovative solution that can manage a wide range of compliance activities on the latest technologies. Also QUMAS ComplianceSP is fully web-based, ensuring anytime/anywhere access to critical compliance activities, all secured by role and permission based access.

"I have commented in the past that Microsoft has become the dominant GRC solution provider due to the wide spread use of Excel, Word, Exchange, and SharePoint," said Michael Rasmussen, founder of Corporate Integrity. "These technologies lack the built-in compliance capabilities that are crucial for a sound GRC solution. QUMAS changes the compliance game. With ComplianceSP, QUMAS makes compliance work in SharePoint environments overcoming the limitations and overhead needed to implement SharePoint correctly for GRC purposes."

"ComplianceSP was architected and designed to seamlessly extend and integrate with the SharePoint 2010 platform," said Kevin O'Leary, CEO for QUMAS. "A principle design goal was to make sure that ComplianceSP could be used on an enterprise wide level and require very minimal or zero end user training."
