McDonald’s Manager Tracey Moore learned Wednesday that she had been selected as one of the top McDonald’s managers in the nation and a winner of the 2011 Ray Kroc Award. Moore manages the McDonald's Restaurant in East Ridge on Ringgold Rd.
Named after McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, the corporate awards are given to managers who deliver superior results in selected areas of performance -- operational excellence, commitment to people, and building the business. The honor comes with a cash award, a Ray Kroc award trophy and pin and a trip to Chicago for a corporate awards gala this April.
“Being part of McDonald’s means I get to share my passion to serve guests,” said Tracey. “I love being able to be successful at my job and I love for my work to be recognized, but I could not be successful without my employees and I’m very humble to that fact. This award is as much theirs as it is mine.”

ACE Awards Presented by Secretary of State Clinton
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton presented the Secretary of State’s 2011 Award for Corporate Excellence (ACE) to Sahlman Seafoods, Incorporated, in Nicaragua; Procter & Gamble in Nigeria; and Procter & Gamble in Pakistan. The Awards are annual corporate awards that recognize U.S.-owned businesses that exhibit good corporate citizenship, promote innovation, and advance democratic principles around the world.
This year’s small- or medium-sized company winner is Sahlman Seafoods, Inc. in Nicaragua. The shrimp farming company promotes sustainable aquaculture and environmental awareness in local communities, protects endangered species of wildlife, and assists communities by improving school facilities, providing meals to children on non-traditional school days, and offering free medical treatment to farm workers.
This year’s winner in the multinational category is Procter & Gamble for its work in both Nigeria and Pakistan. In Nigeria, Procter & Gamble, a consumer packaged goods company, improves the local communities’ water supply through education and purification technology, supports the health and well-being of new and expectant mothers and children through mobile clinics, provides a safe and healthy work environment, and conducts novel educational programs for teenage girls.
In Pakistan, Procter & Gamble’s exemplary humanitarian assistance efforts include providing clean drinking water, food, hygiene products, medical care, and laundry services after unprecedented flooding in the region; cultivating sustainable partnerships to establish schools, early education programs, support for orphanages; reduction of carbon dioxide emissions at its facilities; and collaboration with universities to develop young business leaders.

Belk Among Jerry Awards Recipients
The Belk Inc. retail chain and a group of job-training agencies will receive this year's Jerry Awards from the Charlotte Regional Partnership. “Both Belk and these work force development boards understand the fundamental key to success: Know your customers and meet their needs,” says Ronnie Bryant, president and chief executive of the partnership.
These Jerry Awards are corporate awards named for the initial recipients of the honors: Carolina Panthers owner and founder Jerry Richardson and Jerry Orr, aviation director at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Belk, which gets the private sector Jerry Award, has 303 stores in 16 states and employs more than 900 in its Charlotte corporate headquarters. Plus it sponsors the Belk Bowl, a collegiate football game that brings visitors and media attention to the Queen City each year, Bryant notes.
